Our practice focuses particularly on medical patients with conditions that can possess a strong neuropsychologic component — e.g., irritable bowel syndrome, noncoronary chest pain, dyspepsia, bladder irritation and/or urgency, painful sexual intercourse, chronic pelvic pain, and depression. To assist in the diagnosis and therapeutic monitoring of these patients, we perform high resolution brain, cardiac, and abdominal positron emission tomography (PET) as well as noninvasive inflammatory imaging. It is an integral part of our practice philosophy that medical problems such as those listed above are physiologically based, and should not be considered ‘just psychosomatic’.
