  1. I don’t know much about methadone and I am saddend to see that no one has replied to your post. Here’s a little advice from someone that sees a pain management doctor once a week. You should never snort something. You already have enough problems. I hope that was a sarcastic remark about snorting. The fentanyl patches are not all they’re cracked up to be. They usually start you off at a low dose and work your way up. I was wearing three to four patches at a time and still got no relief. I would think methadone is much stronger. Fentanyl is just a type of morphine. Does morphine work for you? Get a pain management doctor!!!!! They have access to all types of medications and also procedures. I have morphine pump implanted in my abdomen. It has an epidural type of effect. If you want to know about it I will tell you. Please go see a pain management doctor. It sounds like you need one. But make sure you are clear of anything you shouldn’t be taking because they will test you and refer to your other doctors!
    Good Luck, twehe

  2. Hi,

It is right for your doctor to not prescribe Fentanyl without you seeing a pain management specialist as it is a very strong opiate. The reason that you are not getting relief from the methadone is that you probably have become tolerant to it.This is unfortunately what happens when we take opiates, we just need to keep increasing the dose over and over as our bodies get used to it.When this happens it is a good idea to explore other drugs and treatment options. You need to be managed properly to have your drug dose titrated properly until you get the dose you require. You can’t be on Fentanyl while still on Methadone as the risk of respiratory depression is high.
